It is funny you mentioning this, because right now I happen to be reading through Moriyama’s own writings in his book (Tales of Tono) again, where he talks about his own influences, such as the folklorist Yanagita Kunio and the poet Miyazawa Kenji. So I guess influences can come from many sources.
